District Court Open Day

The District Court of Western Australia is once again pleased to open its doors to the public as part of Open House Perth on Sunday, 17 November 2019 between 10am to 4pm.

A popular feature of the District Court Open Day is a tour of the custody centre. It gives visitors a behind-the-scenes look at the cells where accused people are held when they attend court.

Members of the public will also see the State’s first purpose-built, high security courtroom.

Judicial officers and staff will be on hand to answer questions about the operation and role of the District Court, which next year celebrates its 50th anniversary.

Visitors, including children, can also learn about jury duty and have the opportunity to participate in a mock jury selection process in a courtroom with a judge presiding.

Chief Judge Kevin Sleight and the judges of the court welcome the opportunity for the public to learn about the important role of the District Court in Western Australia’s justice system and rule of law in this State.

The court’s cafe open will be open so arrange to meet friends and family there before taking your tour.

Sunday 17 November 2019 from 10am to 4pm.
