Addressing Judicial Officers

People are often unsure how to address the judges, commissioner and registrars of the District Court. The following guide should be of assistance.

If you wish to contact a judge, commissioner or registrar about a court action, you should write to or telephone the associate of the judicial officer. Do not attempt to contact the judicial officer directly as this may result in them receiving information which he or she should not receive out of court or out of the hearing of other parties. Correspondence to an associate should be addressed as follows:

Associate to the 'name of Judge, Commissioner or Registrar'
District Court of Western Australia
500 Hay Street
PERTH WA 6000

The email address of each associate is listed on the website under contacts. Litigants and their legal representatives are encouraged to use email to contact an associate about routine matters involving court actions.
